A White Christmas

My first Christmas with Mom and Dad was a special one including a Christmas Day snowstorm!

The squirrels and the birds feasted on sunflower seeds.

I was relieved to see that Santa found our new house and boy did bring the gifts!

ma
I got some great toys including this ball that actually talks!

Mom got some new jackets to wear to our dog shows.

Dad had the house decorated with beautiful colored lights.

By the end of the day I was pretty tired.

And the snow made the Christmas Bears seem right at home.

Bonnie Wins Her First Major

During a four-day dog show in Savannah, GA I won Winner's Female one day and Reserve Winner's Female the other three days. This was my first 3-point major and I had lots of fun.

Click here for the Savannah Dog Show Results.

Dad and I also got our first qualifying leg in Novice Rally Obedience with a score of 94 out of 100. Our ring was outdoors and was kinda cold during this early morning event.

We enjoyed our time in Savannah by hiking a trail in the Skidaway Island State Park.

Mom's highlight was a visit to the Bonaventure Cemetery made famous in the movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil".

We had a wonderful time in Savannah and look forward to visiting again next year.

My First Birthday

We celebrated my first birthday Nov 20th with a wonderful birthday party. Mom invited all my dog friends and their parents. Look at the funny cake Mom bought!

The parents enjoyed snacks on the porch...

...while we played with my new toys in the side yard.

Dad baked me and my friends some homemade dog biscuits that came from Kristine's grandmother.

We each got our own biscuit while our parents got cake.

Thanks to all my friends Fred, Diego, Maggie, River and Autumn for all the toys and good times we have had together this year.

A Dog Show Double Header

I competed in my first two dog shows this past weekend. On Thursday, I completed in the 6-9 month puppy class at the Dalmatian Club of the Piedmont's Dalmatian Speciality. I got third place in sweepstakes and first place in my class!

On Saturday, I competed in the 6-9 month puppy class at the Greenville Kennel Club Show. It was also considered to be a Dalmatian speciality show. I got second place in both sweepstakes and in my class. The winning puppy was Spotlight's Salutation (Sally). She is my half-sister from Ocala, FL. I got to meet her and my other half-sister Spotlight's Ciao Bella. I also got to meet my grandpa, Spotlight's Ruffian. It was so much fun to meet my relatives and breeder Connie Wagner.

For my sweepstakes second and third place finishes, I got $$$. And for my first place I got this cool bowl for Mom.

I purchased this monster armadillo with some of my winnings.

Dog shows are lots of fun and everyone was so nice to us. Maybe we'll go again when I'm a little older.

Training for the Greenville Dog Show

Get your programs ready for it's time for the Greenville Dog Show! Mom and I will be hitting the ring for the first time in the puppy 6-9 month class. I will compete in two shows, one on Thursday and one on Saturday, both considered Specialities. Mom has been working hard with Linda, our trainer, to get me ready to be a show girl.

Canine Good Citizen

Mom and I just finished up my basic obedience class at Red Creek Farm.

Dad helped me to pass my Canine Good Citizen test!

Check out all that I learned in class!

Our new home

Did you hear that Dad bought Mom a new house for her birthday?

It's a real tree house in the woods with frog ponds, a big garden, fruit trees and even a chicken coop!

It has a great yard for me with lots of cool critters like box turtles!

Mom even got me a pool just my size!

We had this great party on the front porch to help Mom and I celebrate our birthdays. I turned 7 months and Mom turned 7 dog years.

We had this big cake for all our friends.

Boy was I surprised when I found out I wasn't a little puppy anymore. Mom says I'm a big girl now and I must watch out for boy dogs!

Freedom Weekend Awash

For Memorial Day Dad took Aunt Lynn, Cousin Byron and I to Freedom Weekend Aloft. Normally dogs are not allowed at the festival with the exception of disc-catching dogs like myself.

On Saturday the professional dogs had the field showing off their best moves in the freestyle competition. Here is Mark Muir and his border collie Irish. Look how high Irish can leap off of Mark's back!

On Sunday it was time for us novice dogs to compete. Dad set up a nice tailgating tent so I would have a cool shady place to rest until it was my turn.

I competed in the toss and fetch competition. The rules say you are allowed 90 seconds to make as many catches as possible with a single disc. The thrower (that's Dad) has to stay behind the line while throwing but can enter the field if needed to bring back the disc (that's supposed to be my job). You receive 1 pt for every 10 yards down the field where the catch is made. You receive and extra 1/2 pt if you catch it in the air. The five best catches are added together for your score. Check out the video below to see me in action.

Just when we started our round the rain began to fall. Dad got a little flustered and overthrew me on the first throw and I forgot to return the disc to him. Who knew Dad could move so fast? My second throw and catch was worth 2 1/2 points but again I forgot to return the disc, by the time I remembered to return it to Dad, time was just about to expire, so I decided to give him a big hug and kiss instead. Although it was not our best performance, we really did have fun at our first disc dog tournament.

The end of the day came in an exciting fashion as the sky opened up and it rained hard (2 inches!) in strong billowing waves for over 30 minutes. Even though we had a tent for cover, everything got soaked including me! Many thanks to Aunt Lynn and Cousin Byron for taking the video and pictures and for helping to carry all of the supplies to and from the car. It really was a freedom weekend awash.

Happy 6 Month Birthday

I celebrated my 6 month birthday with a play date with my best buddy Fred. Fred is a good sport and likes to play chase with me. It's so much fun to have another puppy to play with.
